California Symphony Board of Directors
Ralph W. Haskew President of the Board

The California Symphony is pleased to announce Ralph W. Haskew as the president of the Symphony's board of directors. Haskew is the youngest person to serve as board president in the 19-year history of the California Symphony. Since 2004, Haskew as served as the finance committee chairman, contributing his strategic planning and fund development efforts throughout the organization.
"I am honored to serve as president of the America's Best Symphony - and look forward to continuing the tradition of spotlighting prodigies, fostering young American composers and contributing to music in schools," Haskew said.
Haskew is a certified public accountant and tax manager with Matlin & Haskew, LLP and an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University's Edward S. Ageno School of Business in San Francisco. A graduate of University of California Berkeley, he served in the United States Army and also holds a Master of Science in taxation from Golden Gate University. Haskew brings more than 20 years of tax and business experience to his new position.
Haskew, 50, succeeds Stephen D. Roath, who stepped down in July after five years as board president. Roath, former president and CEO of Longs Drugs, will remain as a member of the board of directors.
"I have learned a great deal from Stephen and greatly appreciate his extended commitment to the Symphony," said California Symphony Founder and Music Director Barry Jekowsky. "I look forward to working more closely with Ralph as he will bring new strengths and ideas with his leadership."
