Why are you cancelling the March 14 & 15 FATE AND FUTURE concerts?
The health and safety of our patrons and our musicians is paramount. Following updated guidelines released by Contra Costa Health Services regarding COVID-19, the Lesher Center has cancelled performances through March 25, and therefore we must cancel the FATE AND FUTURE concerts this weekend.
Can’t you livestream the concert instead?
The health and safety of our musicians is a priority to the California Symphony. Contra Costa County’s guidance is to cancel gatherings where 50 or more people are within arm’s length of each other, and our orchestra for this performance calls for 75 musicians, sitting in close proximity to each other.
I bought tickets. What happens next?
If you have tickets to this weekend’s concerts, please look out for communications from the Lesher Center Ticket Office regarding your options, which include:
- Exchanging for tickets to either of the FOUR SEASONS FINALE concerts, May 23 & 24
- Supporting the California Symphony by donating your tickets back to the ticket office, for which you will receive a receipt for your taxes
- A refund on your tickets
You can also call the ticket office directly at 925.943.7469 Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday—12:00 to 6:00 PM, and Friday and Saturday—12:00 to 7:30 PM.
Will you reschedule the concerts?
It’s too early to say.
What about the Katherine Balch world premiere?
We will work to ensure Katherine’s piece is premiered by the California Symphony another time. Again, too early to say more right now.
How long will the Lesher Center remain closed?
The Lesher Center for the Arts (our venue) is taking advice from Contra Costa Health Services and updates will be posted on the Lesher Center website and social media pages. According to the March 10 recommendations from Contra Costa County Health Services, community events where 50+ people are within arm’s length of each other should be cancelled for at least two weeks, through March 25.
