She’s no sports fan but she knows all about leaving it all out on the stage when she performs. Meet Principal Oboe Laura Reynolds!

What is one line you might say to hype up your section before the big concert? “Let’s make some music and remember to have some fun!”
What’s the coolest thing about your instrument? The sound! And the many colors of reed thread.
Most Looking Forward to Playing in 24/25? Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, an ingenious set of variations followed by an amazing fugue! Also Beethoven’s 9 which never fails to leave me optimistic; Rodrigo’s guitar concerto with the amazing soloist Meng Su; and Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, full of positivity!
Thoughts on playing music and playing sports? Working together as a team is the key to success and when each individual brings their best to the “field”, be it in the stadium, arena, rink or stage, that’s when the magic appears!
Your Sporting Alter Ego or Lookalike? I don’t have a specific name to share, but my alter ego might be a figure skater. The best ones leave everything on the ice and success comes with what looks like perfect control in tandem with tremendous commitment, emotion, and creative risk.
