David Ridge
Bass Trombone

David Ridge is the Principal Bass Trombonist of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and holds the same position with the California Symphony. He can be heard on the San Francisco Opera’s national and international radio broadcasts, as well as on their many recordings and videos. He also performs frequently with the San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Ballet and has performed with every major arts organization in the Bay area. David is an active recording musician and has recorded film scores, video games and commercial projects. As a soloist, he can be heard on the CD Trombonarama, performing Ninth Avenue Hustle for bass trombone and piano which was written for him. A committed educator, he is on the faculty at California State University East Bay, the University of California Berkeley and Diablo Valley College. Mr. Ridge received his B.M. and M.M. from the New England Conservatory of Music and the Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes College of Music. David is a proud resident of Lafayette and has volunteered with the music programs in the Lafayette school district. He has served on the boards of the Lafayette Partners In Education Foundation and the Sun Valley Swimming Pool Association and served as Deacon at Moraga Valley Presbyterian Church. He has coached soccer, baseball, basketball, and Odyssey of the Mind and is a Stroke and turn official. He served as the Director of the Sun Valley Swim Team and was also the Head Wrestling Coach at Acalanes High School.
