Natalia Badziak
Viola
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Natalia Badziak joined the California Symphony in 2022. She is a substitute with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and has performed in many music festivals including Ensemble Modern’s Klangspuren Schwaz and Spoleto Festival USA. She has played in ensembles such as SF Sound, the San Francisco Contemporary Players, and in a piano quintet through Lincoln Center Stage. An avid new music performer, Natalia has worked with members of the Ensemble Modern, is a Lucerne Festival Fellow, and has attended the Darmstadt Summer Music Courses. She has commissioned several new works for the viola that involve singing and experimental techniques.
Natalia is a graduate of the Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, where she completed Bachelor’s degrees in viola performance and comparative literature, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she completed her Master’s degree. She also completed a postgraduate certificate in contemporary music at the Graz (Austria) University of the Arts.
In her spare time, Natalia is an avid traveler, reader and fiction and poetry writer.
