Stephen Zielinski

Stephen Zielinski is a graduate of the Juilliard School’s Master of Music and Manhattan School of Music Bachelor of Music programs.

He joined California Symphony in 2017 and also regularly performs with ensembles around the Bay Area, such as New Music Works, NACUSAsf, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Santa Cruz Symphony, Monterey Symphony, One Found Sound, and more.

Mr. Zielinski has been featured as a soloist around the Bay Area, including 2022 concerts with the Ukiah Symphony where he performed Bruch’s Double Concerto for Clarinet and Viola alongside Paul Yarbrough. He also appeared as a soloist with the Diablo Symphony in 2018, performing Debussy’s Première Rhapsody, and with the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony in 2015, performing Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.

In addition to his live performances, Mr. Zielinski has contributed to recordings and collaborations. He has worked with the Twentieth Century Classics Ensemble under Robert Craft, recording chamber works of Anton Webern and Igor Stravinsky for the Naxos label. Mr. Zielinski’s performances can also be heard on recordings for the Albany Records label, featuring works by Thomas Pasatieri.

Zielinski has performed with various orchestras, including the Albany Symphony, Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, Tulsa Opera Orchestra, and Distinguished Concerts International Orchestra. He toured Europe with the Juilliard Orchestra in 2005, performing in the BBC Proms and in cities such as London, Berlin, Helsinki, and Lucerne. He also participated in the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy, in 2003 and 2004, with performances broadcasted on RAI.

Mr. Zielinski holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and has received scholarships such as the Arline J. Smith Scholarship and the Otto G. Storm Scholarship during his studies at Juilliard.
